Calf joins the farm!

Our new calf “Rusty” was born on June 24th. He joined us on the farm yesterday (at 6 days old) and our farm vacation guests will get to bottle feed him twice per day.

Rusty is a dairy bull calf and is already beginning to make friends with the chickens and lambs.

For those interested in dairy breeds, Rusty is an Ayrshire cross – which originated in the County of Ayr in Scotland, prior to 1800. For more information check out this site:

Geothermal Air Conditioning Working GREAT!

Handsome Brook Farm Bed and Breakfast is excited that the new Geothermal heating and cooling system is work great. Not only is the unit sustainable and energy efficient, but it puts out lots of cold air. Now that the outside temperature in the Catskills is in the 90s it is great to have the indoor temperature in the low 70s!

Our farm stay B&B guests are able to enjoy all the berries and farm animals outside, then come inside to a cool house using renewable energy.
